Some guests leave us with more than beautiful memories of a cooking class. They leave a little warmth in our hearts, too.
From the very first email, Paul had already made me smile. Instead of signing off with just his own name, he signed it “Paul & Mary.” Such a small gesture, yet it said so much about the love and care they share. It felt especially touching to me, as we Vietnamese can sometimes be a little shy about expressing affection openly.
Yesterday, as we cooked traditional Vietnamese dishes together, we talked about so much more than recipes. We shared stories about our travels around Vietnam, the customs of different places, and the little things that make each local dish special.
I thought we would be the ones sharing Vietnamese food and culture with Paul and Mary. But in their own gentle way, they gave us something just as special: smiles, warmth, and the simple happiness of seeing two people care for each other so naturally.
Thank you, Paul & Mary, for bringing a little extra sunshine into Mộc Kitchen.
It was a joy to cook with you both.
